It originated in Wales and was initially used as a working dog. The feature that makes it a great companion dog is its white coat. The breed is attributed to Captain Edwardes who developed it in the late 18th century. Its popularity rose spontaneously after the First World War and was mainly associated with the Hollywood stars.
