    Pug Puppies

The Pug is a toy dog which is characterized by a wrinkly, short muzzle and a curled tail. Its coat is fine and glossy and comes in an assortment of colors. Its body is compact and muscular. They are believed to be responsible for the English bulldog breed, King Charles spaniel and the modern day Pekingese. They trace their origin in China although they were initially popular in Western Europe.

    Appearance

The present day breed has a square and compact body. They have a deep chest. When shopping for the Pug puppies, you should understand the two distinctive shapes of the ears. The first is the Rose ears. They are small and usually fold against the dog’s head. The Button ears, on the other hand, are bigger. Most people prefer the button style ears. The legs are of moderate length and strong. Their lower jaw protrudes further out leading to an under bite.

Pugs in San Diego can come in a wide range of colors ranging from fawn to apricot fawn to silver fawn to black. Its markings are defined clearly. The tail tightly curls over the hip.

    Temperament

The Pug puppys nature is rarely aggressive. They are strong willed and suitable as family pets. They relate well with children. In spite of their being teasing and vivacious at times, they are docile and quiet. Their mood is dependent on that of their owner.

    Health Issues

The breed is susceptible to such eye injuries as scratched corneas and proptosis. They can also get entropion injuries which are pretty painful. The injuries are as a result of the breed lacking a longer snout and it’s having high up skeletal brow ridges. The narrow air passage also makes it hard for pugs to breathe. Their body temperature regulation is considerably poor. Severe temperatures can lead to permanent health issues. You should therefore keep the Pugs in moderate temperature. Obesity is also common with dogs living in sedentary lives. Give them healthy diets and regular exercises to avoid the obesity problem.

Common health issues include obesity, overheating and pharyngeal reflex. The fatal conditions are hemivertebrae and necrotizing meningoencephalitis. You should take more time cleaning the ears and skin folds to avoid infections. Moreover, frequent medical checkups could help deal away with most of the aforementioned problems.

    Grooming

This breed is easy to groom because of its short haired coat. You can groom it using a bristle brush. Shampooing can also be done if necessary. Thorough drying must also be done to prevent chilling. You should also note that it sheds seasonally.
