The Poodle is a dog breed bred in three sizes; miniature, toy and standard. It can be found in an assortment of coat colors. Initially, it was bred as a water dog. It is hence skillful in a variety of sports including those on obedience, tracking, and agility as well as herding. Prior to purchasing Poodle puppies, it is advisable to learn as much as you can about the breed.
The country of origin is Germany. The breed was by then known by the name Pudelhund – a Low German verb meaning to splash about. Hund means dog. The breed was later standardized in France and used for water retrieval. In Europe, the breed is dated back to the 15 century. It was, however, adopted as a pet in Spain towards the end of the 18th century.
Appearance

Miniatures can live up to 14.5 years with the main cause of death being old age and kidney failure. Toy Poodles can live up to 20 years.
Typical use
