    Otterhound puppies

If you are looking for a cute family dog, then the Otterhound is worth your consideration. This is an old British dog breed. Its origins are still not known. It is a scent hound and was originally developed to hunt otters. Most clubs recognize this dog as a vulnerable native breed. In the world today, there are about 1,000 of them. It is this scarcity that makes the San Diego Otterhound puppies ideal for people aspiring to get a unique pet.

    Description

The body of the Otterhound puppies San Diego is rectangular in shape. It has a large head which is somewhat narrow. The length of the muzzle is equal to that of the skull and it has a slight stop. The nose is large and dark.  The teeth make a level bite. The eyes are deep set and have a color that complements the coat. The ears are low set, long and hang loosely. The neck is muscular and has abundant dewlap. The tail is long, set high and is thicker at its base and tapers to some point. On the front legs, the dewclaws are often removed. The feet are webbed, thick and have arched toes.

The double coat of the Otterhound puppy San Diego has hairs of 3 to 6 inches in length. The outer coat is oily, rough, coarse and dense. The undercoat is water resistant and very soft. The face of the dog is shaggy and has bushy eyebrows. The coat has all the hound colors which include grizzle or the wheaten with some black markings.

    Temperament

In appearance, the San Diego Otterhound puppies are both fearless and animated. They are mainly considered as family pets becase of their devotion. They are also great with kids. In general, this breed of dog is friendly, happy, loving and has high spirits. It gets along well with all other dogs and house pets. It is also good with people. All in all, because of its hunting instincts, it is not recommended to leave it with non-canine animals. It will always chase after them. Other than that, it is affectionate and very intelligent.

Considering it was originally bred as a working dog, it needs patience when training. It also needs a strong leader else it will develop a mind of its own. The dog needs a leader that is determined, loving and consistent. It needs to be told when it does something wrong.

    Health

Some lines are prone to hip dysplasia, hemophilia, bloat and thrombocytopenia. You should refrain from overfeeding as this dog gains weight fast. Elbow dysplasia is also a minor concern.
