MemberLowchen Puppies
If you are looking for a lovely looking dog to adopt as a pet, then the Lowchen is the right one for you. This is a small sized dog with long coat hairs. It is the rarest of dog breeds in the world. Globally, there are only a few registrations of this breed annually. It is hence an ideal choice for people who want a unique dog that will help them stand out. In spite of the number being small, this breed can be traced as far back as 1442. It can be traced in Germany, Belgium and Holland.
Appearance
The San Diego Lowchen puppies are bred with long and wavy coats which are often presented in a lion cut. This means some areas are shaved to give the breed a lion-like appearance. They are considered by some registries simply as toy dogs and as non-sporting dogs.
The most distinctive feature of the Lowchen puppies San Diego is the head. It is short, has a wide muzzle and a broad skull. The eyes are lively and round in shape. The ears are pendulant. The head is proportional to the body. The coat is wavy and with thick hairs. The most common coat color is brown.
Temperament
The Lowchen puppy San Diego is generally a lively and affectionate dog. It is intelligent and sociable and always eager to learn. The dog is fearless but at the same time sensitive and gentle. Their intelligence enables them to learn fast and with no difficulties. They are playful and good with children hence highly considered as family pets.
Despite its coat making it look weak, the Lowchen puppies San Diego grow into robust small sized dogs. This is a tough dog and can be strong willed. However, if the owner is not a good leader, it may be arrogant. The breed will always challenge other household dogs and often be the top dog. The breed will also defend the house with intense barking when necessary. They are not hyperactive but if not exercised sufficiently, they will bark and dig extensively. To bring the best in this dog, you will need daily walks and be a pack leader.
Health
The San Diego Lowchen puppies are generally health dogs. However, some are prone to patellar luxation.
Care
To keep the long hair from tangling, you need to brush and comb the coat regularly. The long hairs should also be clipped. All in all, in spite of the breed having long hairs, with proper grooming, it sheds little to absolutely no hair.
The San Diego Lowchen puppy will require daily walks. This will fulfill the primal instinct to walk. Daily walks will keep your dog from boredom as well as reduce the risk of behavioral problems. You should also take some time to play with the dog. The breed is good with an apartment life.
