    Lhasa Apso Puppies

The Lhasa Apso originated in Tibet. It is a non-sporting dog breed. It was originally bred as an interior sentinel and alerted monks of intruders. The name Apso translates to Bearded. The breed’s names literally means Long-haired Lhasa dog. This dog breed is characterized by long hairs and beards.

In the breed standards, the San Diego Lhasa Apso puppies must have dark brown eyes as well as a black nose. The liver-colored dogs usually have a brown nose. The coat has a texture that is heavy, hard, and straight and it is neither silky nor wooly. The coat is also very dense. There are many coat colors to expect. The main ones are white, gold, red and black. You can also expect some dark tips at the end of the ears and the beard. The tail is carried over the back. This dog breed was only approved in the United States in 11th July 1978.

The Lhasa Apso puppies San Diego are basically friendly and quite assertive. They are also lively and intelligent. They make great family pets because they are devoted and spirited to their masters. They are obedient and respond well to any motivational training. Being bred to serve as sentinels, they have great hearing and make perfect watchdogs.

The flip side to this affectionate dog breed is that it easily falls to the small dog syndrome. This is a syndrome born when the dog is not punished or not made conscious of the rules or when the owner is a weak pack leader. The syndrome causes the breed to take up the pack leader role and may herd humans. If you need the best of your Lhasa Apso puppy San Diego, you must be a firm leader. The puppy will also need socialization and training to keep it from being aggressive or developing negative behaviors.

Other than that, it is important to note that San Diego Lhasa Apso puppies are usually suspicious of strangers and will not tolerate kids. They crave human attention and will often bark to draw attention to themselves. The dog will also need both physical and mental exercises daily.

The Lhasa Apso puppies San Diego are generally healthy dog breeds. However, there are a couple of health issues you should watch out for. This includes skin problems resulting from parasites, hip dysplasia, eye problems, and kidney problems and bleeding ulcers. You should make a point to see a vet regularly to avoid these issues.

The long coat does not need trimming or stripping. They need regular brushing daily to avoid matting. Some people may also opt to trim the coat for easier grooming. Shampooing should only be done when absolutely necessary. The ears and eyes should be cleaned carefully. The San Diego Lhasa Apso puppy is a light shedder. It will need daily walks and plays to fulfill its primal instincts.
