
Labrador Retriever
The Labrador Retriever is the most sought after breed in the U.S. according to the AKC. This smart, lovable, and family-oriented canine was originally from Newfoundland and was used to work with fisherman. Labs were used to catch fish that escaped fishermans lines and nets. They were bred with Setters, Spaniels, and other types of retrievers in order to hone their retrieving skills.
Varieties
Labs are available in three colors. Yellow, Chocolate, and Black.
Average Size
Labs can range anywhere from 45 – 75 pounds on average (depending on your feeding regimen)
Temperament
Labrador Retrievers are great family dogs. Their temperament is affectionate and stable. A true outgoing personality and a loyal and devoted pet.
Activites
Labs love the water. Many of them will retrieve a ball if you throw it for them for hours on end, jumping into, and swimming in the water for hours.

Labs have been used for seeing eye guides, hunting retrievers, police dogs, and of course loyal, friendly pets
