MemberFinnish Spitz Puppies
Just as the name implies, the Finnish Spitz is a breed of dogs that originated in Finland. This breed was initially bred to be used as a hunting dog. It was used to hunt squirrels and other rodents as well as bears. It was used as a pointer where it barked to inform the hunter of the location of game. In Finland, the Finnish Spitz puppies are still trained and used in hunting. In the United States and many other countries, the breed is widely used as a family dog. This is because of its friendliness, affection and its love for children. It has been the national dog of Finland since 1979.
Appearance
In appearance, the San Diego Finnish Spitz puppy resembles a fox. It has a square build; the length is almost equal to the height. The body is muscular. The head is flat between its ears and rounds slightly to the forehead. It has a pronounce stop on its narrow muzzle. Its lips and nose are black. The teeth make a scissor bite. The Finnish Spitz puppies San Diego have almond shaped eyes that have black rims. The ears are high set, erect and open towards the front. The top line is level. The chest is usually deep and reaches to the elbows.
The San Diego Finnish Spitz puppy has a double coat. The coat has a dense undercoat which is short and soft. The outer coat is long, straight and harsh. The colors of the coat include shades of red brown, golden red as well as yellowish red and honey colored. The coat may have or lack white markings. When shopping for the Finnish Spitz puppies, it is important to note that the puppies are normally born dark and usually lighten to reddish colors as they mature.
Temperament
The Finnish Spitz puppy San Diego is friendly, very active, playful, courageous and keen. It excels in obedience training especially where the owner is a natural leader. It is widely known as a hunting dog and has great hunting instincts even when adopted as a family dog. The breed does not mature until it is three to four years old. It needs to be told that it is below humans else it will embrace the dominant hierarchy. It demands attention, affection and is somewhat aggressive towards other dogs. It is not recommended for the passive or meek owner. Other than that, it is loyal to the family.
Health
The San Diego Finnish Spitz puppies is generally healthy. Owners should, however, watch out for hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and elbow dysplasia and patellar luxation.
Care
Care should be centered mainly on exercising. The breed needs daily long walks or jogs. With sufficient daily exercises, it will do great in an apartment life even if there is no yard around. The coat is self-cleaning but will, however, require combing and brushing to get rid of dead hair. This breed does not have a doggy odor and is a seasonal heavy shedder.
