MemberEnglish setter Puppies
Buying your first puppy can be difficult. The key, however, is to learn as much as you can about it before making a decision. An attractive pet to bring home is the English setter. The English setter is also known as the Laverack Setter. This is a dog breed that originated in England back in the 1300s. This is the oldest of setter breeds and descended from Spanish Pointer, Water Spaniel and the Springer Spaniel. The modern breed of English setter puppies was only developed back in the 1860s. This breed is popular in the United States as a sporting breed.
Appearance
The San Diego English setter puppies have a long and square shaped muzzle. The muzzle has a pronounced stop. The eyes of this breed are large and the ears are low set. The tail is straight and normally carried flat and tapers at a point.
This breed has a long and flat coat with light silky feathering. The coat has flecks of coloring which are known as ‘belton’. The possible colors include white with tan and black, orange and bluish-black. The rarest of colors are lemon and liver. The English setter puppy San Diego is born white in color and develops its natural colors gradually as it grows.
Temperament
The San Diego English setter puppies are generally friendly and intelligent. They are also pretty sensitive, polite but at times stubborn. The breed is sociable. It craves human companionship and hence widely used as a companion by both families and hunters. The breed is energetic outdoors and relaxed when indoors. The key reason why the English setter puppies are considered as family pets is because of their sociable nature. They get along perfectly with children and other household pets including dogs. They will also bark at strangers thereby making them great watchdogs.
Care
The English setter puppy San Diego requires regular and thorough brushing. You should brush it every two to three days. On a monthly basis, its hair should be trimmed and clipped for the best appearance. Considering it is prone to health issues, regular visits to the vet will help deal with most of the problems.
To bring the best of your San Diego English setter puppy, you need to both exercise them and train them while they are still young. You should embrace the loving and consistent approach when training. The intelligence of this breed enables it to learn a range of tricks as well as duties. However, it is important to understand that it gets bored easily. Always use positive reinforcement.
On a daily basis, this breed requires at least one hour of strenuous exercise. The exercises should include long walks, fetch games and hunting. If possible, leave it on an enclosed yard for it to wander about.
