The English Cocker Spaniel is a gun dog that is active, good natured and a sporting dog. It is compactly built. It closely resembles the American Cocker Spaniel. Outside the United States, the breed is referred to as a Cocker Spaniel. It has a lively spirit and keeps wagging its tail. As a result, it has been nicknamed ‘merry cocker’. The English Cocker Spaniel puppies can be dominant and loyal in their companion. They are generally healthy though susceptible to the rage syndrome.
Appearance
In appearance, the San Diego English Cocker Spaniel puppies are study, compact and well balanced dogs. Its expression exudes alertness and intelligence. The eyes are dark and the lobular ears must reach past the tip of their nose when pulled forward. The breed comes in solid, parti-colored and roan markings. The main colors are brown, black, liver, red with black, brown with pigmentation, golden with some black or brown pigmentation, silver, sable, black, sable, liver and tan, black and tan.
Temperament

They can take as much exercise as you can give them. They require daily walks. The coat needs regular brushing and combing. The coat varies between breeds and has a large amount of cottony hair. This coat is prone to matting. Some breeds have silky coats that are less prone to matting. Hair around the pads should be trimmed. The breed is generally an average shedder.
