The Cardigan Welsh corgi puppy is also known as the Cardigan or the CWC or the Cardi. This is one of the oldest herding breed. Their country of origin is thought to be Wales about 3,000 years ago. Their name (Cor gi) translates to a dwarf dog or a gathering dog. The descendants of the breed are thought to be in the Teckle family. The breed was later crossed with Collie for the traditional colors. Originally, the Cardigan Welsh corgi puppies were used as guard and hunting dogs. They were trained to drive cattle. When their use declined, the breed almost went extinct. The remaining breeds were then crossed with other herding breeds. The present day San Diego Cardigan Welsh corgi puppy was recognized in 1935. It is today widely used in herding and as a family pet.
Appearance
The San Diego Cardigan Welsh corgi puppy is a dwarf. It is nearly twice as long as its height. The ears are long and rounded and usually stand upright. The skull is somewhat flat. The back is flat and has a tail that is low carried and is never docked. The general appearance resembles that of a fox or a German shepherd except for the short legs. It is distinguished from the Pembroke Welsh Corgi by the large ears, heavy body and the undocked tail.

They come in a variety of shades ranging from sable to red to brindle to black and sometimes tan brindle or blue merle. Temperament

Frequent brushing is recommended to get rid of dead hairs. It should be bathed when necessary. Considering the high level of natural energy, the breed needs daily exercises. Additionally, you need to make appointments with the local vet for regular examinations.
