     Cairn terrier Puppies

If you are looking for a loving and good looking dog, you should consider the Cairn terrier. It is among the oldest terrier breeds. It originated in the Scottish Highlands. It is the earliest breed used in Scotland as a working dog. It is still being used in hunting as well as burrowing prey. The breed was initially known as the Short-haired Skye terriers. The name was rejected by the Kennel Club in the United Kingdom which gave it the name Cairn terrier in 1909. The breed is left-pawed; a trait associated with great performance in scent related tasks. With it being initially bred for hunting rodents, when placed in a home, it will tend to do the work of the cat.

    It’s Name

The name Cairn refers to rock dens that badgers and foxes live in across the countryside. The breed was used in hunting badgers and foxes by barking and confining them to a position where the farmer could kill them.

    Appearance

The coat of the San Diego Cairn terrier puppy is weather resistant. The outer coat can be cream, red, wheaten, gray, sandy or brindled. The pyre black, or black and tan are not accepted as standard breeds. The brindled cairns usually change their colors throughout their life. With time, it can become more silver or black. The Cairn terrier puppies have a double coat with the undercoat being soft and dense while the outer coat is harsh.

    Temperament

The Cairn terrier puppies are normally adventurous, intelligent and strong. They are also loyal and tough. They love to dig and hunt vermin. The breed has a high chasing instinct and is particularly distant with other animals. However, when compared to other terriers, this breed coexists smoothly with other pets. They will always defend their territory and their families. They are also friendly with people and will always crave human companion. Comprehensive training is required to deal with the high prey instinct and the aggressiveness. Training will also make him more obedient.

The Cairn terrier puppies San Diego love their families. However, from time to time, they will test the limits of their master. Obedient training is crucial. The owner should also establish ground rules and make sure they are adhered to else the breed will develop the small dog’s syndrome which causes it to control the household.
