The name Cairn refers to rock dens that badgers and foxes live in across the countryside. The breed was used in hunting badgers and foxes by barking and confining them to a position where the farmer could kill them.

Appearance

The coat of the San Diego Cairn terrier puppy is weather resistant. The outer coat can be cream, red, wheaten, gray, sandy or brindled. The pyre black, or black and tan are not accepted as standard breeds. The brindled cairns usually change their colors throughout their life. With time, it can become more silver or black. Temperament
