For its size, the Bloodhound is a very powerful hound dog. It has a long head which is narrow but proportioned to its body. The muzzle is long and has a black nose. The eyes are deeply sunk and diamond shaped. The shape of the eyes is as a result of the eyelids where the lower is dragged far down and somewhat turned outwards by the upper eye lid which is pretty heavy. The ears are thin, soft and drop extremely low.
The colors of the Bloodhound puppies vary from yellow to deep hazel. It has many several wrinkled skin which hangs loosely. At the neck, the loose skin forms folds. The skin folds have been known to hold scent and aid in tracking. In general, the breed has a wrinkled coat which is both short and hard textured. The skull and ears have soft hair. The coat colors include liver and tan; black and tan; red and tawny; and red. The feet, chest and toes might have some white.
Still on appearance, the San Diego Bloodhound puppy has pronounced dewlaps. It is muscular and has straight front legs. It has a tail that is carried high but somewhat curved over the top line of the dog’s back.
Temperament
